Our History

Compassion in action since 2003

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba

The Sunshine Welfare Action Mission, a group of volunteers inspired by their spiritual guru, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, established SWAMI Home in Singapore in 1986 to serve the elderly and needy in the community. For the past 30 years, this not-for-profit organisation has provided nursing care and shelter for the aged, sick and physically challenged who come from lower socio—economic backgrounds in Singapore.

Today, the SWAMI Home delivers services to about 1,000 elderly people in the northern region of Singapore every month. Their mission is: “to provide holistic quality care for the elderly, needy and staff by conscious-ly transforming into more human individuals. Together we dedicate ourselves to selfless service with selfless love.”

Ramon Quek, a co-founding member of SWAMI Singapore, on coming to Australia, was inspired together with his wife, Ai Lin, to establish the Sunshine Welfare Action Mission (Western Australia) Inc in 2003. During the formation of this not-for-profit organisation Ramon received regular guidance and inspiration from Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
