Sri Sathya Sai Sarla Memorial Hospital, India

The Sri Sathya Sai Sarla Memorial Hospital is a multi-speciality hospital established at Sathya Sai Grama, Muddenahalli, in the district of Chikkaballapur, Karnataka in South India. The main objective of the Hospital is to make quality healthcare accessible for all, without any barriers, absolutely free of cost.

The Hospital got its name from the memory of the late Mrs Sarla Indulal Shah, an ardent devotee of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, who dedicated her life to the service and upliftment of women and children. The medical services of the hospital as a preliminary outpatient centre started in January 2018. Ever since 2018, the Hospital has been serving patients in various disciplines of General Medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, ENT, Dentistry, Pathology, Community Medicine and Physiotherapy. Many voluntary caregivers extend their love and compassion by visiting the Hospital regularly to provide specialty services such as Endocrinology, Cardiology, Neurology, Foetal Medicine, Dermatology, Plastic Surgery, Podiatry, Radiology, and Orthopaedics.

During the COVID-19 the situation was extremely urgent. In Chikkaballapur, the nearest large town to Muddenahalli Ashram, there were not enough facilities and the existing hospitals were completely occupied. It was necessary to upgrade the hospital with several hundred more beds to accommodate the more serious COVID affected patients in that area. The Sri Sathya Sai Sarla Memorial hospital provided a total of 150 beds with oxygen and ICU facility in phase one by July 2021. Ramon Quek received a prompting to donate at this time and shared this with members of the Management Committee. Subsequently donations from devotees and other well-wishers were forwarded to the hospital.
